Terry L. Grear, CPA
Before ScrogginsGrear was created in January 2014 through the merger of Clayton L. Scroggins Associates and Grear & Company, Terry was president and owner of Grear & Company for more than two decades. In that role, he served as a hands-on president, consulting with clients on business sales and acquisitions, valuations, profitability, finances, vision planning and taxes. Under his leadership, the firm grew to be one of the largest and most respected CPA firms in the Cincinnati area.
Prior to Grear & Company, Terry spent 13 years with Grant Thornton, an international public accounting firm where he performed client responsibilities and was also director of personnel in an office of more than 100 employees.
Through the years, Terry has served as officer of several fraternal organizations and has held positions on numerous boards, including a local bank and a private school. He was the founder and co-pastor of an interdenominational church. He also sponsors and speaks at seminars about business and family management techniques, prioritized balanced living, business values, and other topics. In 2012, Terry and his daughter Jill wrote a book titled, Could Jesus Have Been a CPA?, a book describing some of his experiences following God in the workplace.
Terry is married with two children and two grandsons. He resides in Monfort Heights, Ohio, with his wife, Sally.
Paul R. Trenz, MS-TAX, CPA, CHBC
Paul continues his second-generation leadership of the former Clayton L. Scroggins Associates as a partner with ScrogginsGrear. Clients benefit from Paul's experienced background, which includes designations as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Healthcare Business Consultant. He received his BA degree from the University of Cincinnati and his Master's of Taxation from the University of Denver.
Paul is a past president of the Institute of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants and has served as Education Program chairman for the National Issues Conference in Washington, D.C., for the National Association of Healthcare Consultants. He also is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and has served as a board member of the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants, chairing its Certification Committee, of which he is still a member.
Away from work, Paul is past president and founding board member of a private school and past president of Inter Parish Ministry. He currently serves as an advisory board member to Crossroad Health Center and is president of his local fraternity alumni chapter. Paul also has written for several practice management journals and has spoken to various organizations on practice management.
Paul resides in Montgomery, Ohio, with his wife, Jane. They have six grown children and nine grandchildren.
Robert C. Scroggins, JD, CPA, CHBC
Rob offers clients a multidisciplinary background. He is a Certified Public Accountant, attorney and Certified Healthcare Business Consultant. Rob received his BS degree from Taylor University and his Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he was a member of the Law Review.
Prior to ScrogginsGrear, Rob worked as an auditor and tax accountant for R.T. Huth & Company, CPAs (now Huth Thompson LLP) in Lafayette Indiana, and practiced law with Cohen, Todd, Kite & Stanford, LLC in the areas of tax and estate planning. He serves on the boards of the Professional Management Consultants Association and the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants, of which he is currently the President. He is also a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, the Cincinnati Bar Association, and the Ohio Bar.
Rob is a member of the Editorial Board for Medscape Business of Medicine and has been a frequent contributor to other healthcare periodicals, including Medical Economics and Doctors Digest.
Rob and his wife, Hollie, live in Mt. Lookout, Ohio, with their two sons.
Luke R. Trenz, CPA
A Certified Public Accountant, Luke offers clients a firm foundation of consulting experience that brings results. Luke attended Wheaton College for two years and received his accounting degree from Xavier University.
Prior to ScrogginsGrear, Luke worked in the assurance practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), a Big 4 accounting firm. Luke has given talks to professional organizations regarding business compliance and other management issues. He is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants.
Outside work, Luke serves as a mentor for the Xavier University Mentor Program, which provides undergraduate students a source of advice on personal growth, academics, mission and career options. He also has served as treasurer of his church.
Luke and his wife, Michelle, live in Madeira, Ohio, with their four children.
